THE BOYYYYYYYY
Man this is boss. Really great improvement since your last upload. YOu should be submitting this to the spooktacular contest. I'd be really surprised if you couldn't get something for it.
Spooktacular contest huh? I'm not very familiar with that. Any info where I can find out about it?
Great composition. Really like the eye peeking out from the hair. You have a much better grasp at human anatomy than I. Keep up the great work.
Thank you so much! <33
While its NOT perfect, it still looks really epic. Your palette and color is really nice. And you seem to have a good understanding of light logic and balance; even if it is a simple composition.
Something you can do to quickly learn how to improve your anatomy , is to take your image and flip it horizontally. (Mirror it) Anything that's wrong anatomically will become very glaringly obvious.
My only other critique would be all your light and shading is used with a soft brush. With such an extreme and hard light, you would have lighting with hard edging. I would also argue that your lights are too white, and so it washes out your picture. Then you had this beautiful red at the bottom, but its never incorporated anywhere else. These last two comments however, are based on my opinion, and not on any academic standard.
I would practice learning about light and color reflection. This is a neat trick, where if your digital skills are still improving, you can make the picture look better by reflecting color from your background onto your focus./ Helps to blend your character in with your scenery, and make the entire piece feel more cohesive. It would also be good, since you seem to prefer an airbrushing style, and color reflection really excels with soft brushing.
But hell. A good show either way. Keep it up, and I look forward to seeing more from you.
I will definitely work on that. I knew that a lot of people flip their image while working, I guess it really does help more than I thought.
I can definitely see what you mean about incorporating the different colors from the background into the shadows and highlights on him. I think I'll come back to this and work on it some more.
I'm horrible with blending colors, to be honest, so lighting in an image has always been irritating for me. But, I will work on that!
I sincerely appreciate your help! Thank you so much! <3 <3 <3
adoreable.
Thanks! ;)
The setting is really cool! What would have been excellent was to add something in the piece that would show the scale of your background. You have a pretty monolithic atmosphere, but nothing to really display or accentuate that.
Otherwise, a great piece of work. Love the colors. Very geometric.
I would have loved to add some sort of human element to it to add scale to the piece, but the client was pretty clear about not wanting any characters in the scene. Thanks for the kind words, by the way.
Pikachu's back. And this time he's pissed.
Lolwut? Where is this pikachu you speak of?!
Just trying to be better than I was in 2012.
