Dude, this is spectacular.

And also that was probably the most creepy part of the intro vid. Loved that you re-did this.

Great composition. Really like the eye peeking out from the hair. You have a much better grasp at human anatomy than I. Keep up the great work.

Thank you so much! <33

While its NOT perfect, it still looks really epic. Your palette and color is really nice. And you seem to have a good understanding of light logic and balance; even if it is a simple composition.

Something you can do to quickly learn how to improve your anatomy , is to take your image and flip it horizontally. (Mirror it) Anything that's wrong anatomically will become very glaringly obvious.

My only other critique would be all your light and shading is used with a soft brush. With such an extreme and hard light, you would have lighting with hard edging. I would also argue that your lights are too white, and so it washes out your picture. Then you had this beautiful red at the bottom, but its never incorporated anywhere else. These last two comments however, are based on my opinion, and not on any academic standard.

I would practice learning about light and color reflection. This is a neat trick, where if your digital skills are still improving, you can make the picture look better by reflecting color from your background onto your focus./ Helps to blend your character in with your scenery, and make the entire piece feel more cohesive. It would also be good, since you seem to prefer an airbrushing style, and color reflection really excels with soft brushing.

But hell. A good show either way. Keep it up, and I look forward to seeing more from you.

KNefarious responds:

I will definitely work on that. I knew that a lot of people flip their image while working, I guess it really does help more than I thought.

I can definitely see what you mean about incorporating the different colors from the background into the shadows and highlights on him. I think I'll come back to this and work on it some more.

I'm horrible with blending colors, to be honest, so lighting in an image has always been irritating for me. But, I will work on that!

I sincerely appreciate your help! Thank you so much! <3 <3 <3

adoreable.

ZeTrystan responds:

Thanks! ;)

Yes your art is always so richly detailed, but unfortunately its always so hard to figure out whats what, and to make out individual forms.

The setting is really cool! What would have been excellent was to add something in the piece that would show the scale of your background. You have a pretty monolithic atmosphere, but nothing to really display or accentuate that.

Otherwise, a great piece of work. Love the colors. Very geometric.

AtTheSpeedOf responds:

I would have loved to add some sort of human element to it to add scale to the piece, but the client was pretty clear about not wanting any characters in the scene. Thanks for the kind words, by the way.

Boy do I feel foolish now!

Just critiqued something of yours that I do believe was much older than this one.

Simple wonderful composition. Architecture is something that's eluded me. Great work on the sky on this piece. And I love those clouds. :3

This is cool!

I love the background the most really. I love how detailed it is, and I love how lit you've made the sky.
I also love the colors you've used; though I did have a hard time distinguishing some of the background and foreground. it took me a little while to understand what it was I was looking at with the two characters on either side. But the lineart is less defined than your background; so it ended up being messier, AND more detailed because its closer to your camera. I did figure out the shape on the left, and most of the guy on the right, but he bleeds too much into his background. And he's so complex I can't make out a lot of definable features.

Or perhaps I'm color blind! The world may never know; but I do enjoy your style and execution of color. Just up your contrast a little!

Pikachu's back. And this time he's pissed.

Rhunyc responds:

Lolwut? Where is this pikachu you speak of?!

good stuff. Nice color, cool composition. my only critique would be your lack of texture. Her face and her armor look exactly the same. Don't be afraid to leave some extra lineart in there; not everything must be smoothed out. You also have some confusing light sources. If her left side of her face is illuminated, so would the helmet.

Not bad for a first go, keep up the good work!

Just trying to be better than I was in 2012.
